  • Day 1

    Arrival – Arusha
    Hatari Lodge or Zawadi House. Dinner included.

    You will be met at the International Airport of Kilimanjaro by Zagas Explorer Driver Guide and our representative. Who will take you to the famous Hatari Lodge, once home of the German Actor Hardy Krueger. On arrival, you will be met by the lodge manager for a warm welcome and to discuss your safari program for the following two days. The Hatari Lodge is picturesquely located at the foot of majestic Mt Meru with breathtaking views over Arusha National Park. Transfer time without game viewing 1, 5 hours via Arusha National Park.

  • Day 2 & 3

    Hatari / Momella / Arusha National Park
    Hatari Lodge or Zawadi House Full board

    Spend two days at Hatari Lodge and on safari activities are arranged by the lodge, including game drives at Arusha National Park, walks at the forest at Mt Meru and around the lodge. Also local communities, Momella village or Masai Villages are usually visited.

  • Day 4 & 5

    Mkomazi National Park
    Babu’s Camp. Full board

    Leave in the morning from lodge and drive to Mkomazi the latest established National Park of Tanzania. It serves as a buffer to the adjacent Tsavo National Park in Kenya. The Pare and the Usambara Mountains form the boundary in the south. The two mountain ranges in the background scenery, alternating from sparse tree savannas to grassland, are the reason for such an imposing and breathtaking landscape; and due to protection measures put in place, the number of animals has increased substantially. Although there are not as many animals as in some of the more well-known national parks, the wonderful landscape more than compensates for this.

    Besides a multitude of other game, it has the largest population of Gerenuk antelope in Tanzania. Bird enthusiasts can observe approximately 400 different species of bird life. Mkomazi is also famous for its breeding projects of African wild dogs, as well as the rare black rhino run by the George Adamson / Tony Fitz john African Wildlife Preservation Trust. If possible you can visit the project and see the wild dogs and rhinos. Transfer time without game viewing 3 hours.

  • Day 6

    Mkomazi - Usambara Mountains
    Overnight at Maweni Farms (AD) or Mullers Mountain Lodge (LX).

    After breakfast you return to same, the busy market town at the sole of the Pare Mountains. If you wish, you can visit the lively market, the church or the market (Sunday market day) before you proceed along the majestic landscape of the Pare / Western Usambara Mountains and large sisal plantations to Soni / Lushoto at the heart of Usambara Mountains to a small but very friendly Farmhouse. Transfer time without game viewing 3 – 3,5 hours.

  • Day 7 & 8

    Western Usambara
    Maweni Farms (AD) or Mullers Lodge (LX). Full Board.

    Spend the following two days in lush green, unspoilt surroundings in a small eco-friendly lodge. Your hosts will arrange various walking tours to the nearer surroundings, taking you to Sakkarani Monastery, to small villages, to Mazumbai Rain Forest, Irente Viewpoint etc. If you wish, you can attend the service at one of the numerous churches at Lushoto Town. The walks will be designed at your preferences.

  • Day 9 - 11

    Usambara - Pangani
    Meals & Accommodation at Kijongo Bay Beach Resort

    After breakfast your driver will take you to the remote beaches of Pangani at the Indian Ocean (Driving of some 4-5 hours) partly on tarmac, partly on unpaved dirt roads. Reach the Beach around midday / early afternoon for some time for resting, enjoying in the sun and the long pristine beach. Transfer time without game viewing 4 hours. Meals & Accommodation at Kijongo Bay Beach Resort a small friendly beach lodge far away from the crowd. Breakfast and dinner included.

  • Day 12

    Pangani - Saadani
    Overnight at Saadani Safari Lodge. Halfboard

    Depending on your private schedule you will travel by car from Pangani along the coastline of the Indian Ocean to Saadani National Park, the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the Sea ‘bush meets beach’ and you can relax in a very unique, untouched nature with the turquoise blue waters of the Indian Ocean in the front and African Bush in the back. Transfer time without game viewing 2.5 – 3 hours.

  • Day 13

    Saadani National Park
    Overnight at Saadani Safari Lodge. Fullboard

    Full day of game drives and safari activities at Saadani National Park, it offers a unique combination of both marine and mainland flora and fauna in a culturally fascination setting including savannahs, ocean and river, forests and shrubs. Species to be seen are elephants, buffalos, hartebeests, waterbucks, reedbucks, warthogs, numerous giraffes, wildebeests, rarely lions, hyenas, genets, porcupines and different baboons. In the morning you go on a game drive. After lunch at the banks of Wami River you go on a boat safari to Wami River where large groups of hippos live and crocodiles can be seen as well as kingfisher, fish eagles and many species of wading birds.

  • Day 14

    Departure
    Breakfast and Lunch Included

    Departure transfer to Saadani Airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam for your departure. Breakfast and lunch included.

Booking Terms & Conditions

Basic guidelines to aid you as you plan to make your booking to travel to Africa on your Safari Expedition. This is not an exhaustive list, our Tour consultants are always standby to give you all the necessary guidance accordingly.

Booking Procedure

All applications for provisional or confirmed reservations are to be made by the Client by way of letter, facsimile or e-mail addressed to Zagas Explorer.
No reservation will be deemed made unless acknowledged and accepted in writing by Zagas Explorer. Provisional reservations will only be held for 14 days, after which the booking will be released. Please ensure the following information is included:

      » Date and time of arrival
      » Number of people and room requirement
      » Full names of client, and ages of children in the group (if applicable)
      » Any special requirements

Cancellation Policy

Reservations cancelled are charged as below:

      » Between 60 and 31 days prior to arrival a 25% cancellation fee will be charged.
      » Between 30 and 15 days prior to arrival a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.
      » Between 14 and 0 days prior to arrival a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
      » Cancellation fees are calculated on the rate per person and on the total value of the Reservation made.

Rates

All amounts are denominated in US Dollars and payments must be made in the nominated currency. In the case of any future increases in fuel, currency fluctuations, component costs or government taxes, Zagas Explorer reserves the right to renegotiate the rates. Conservancy fees are mandatory and will be included in the invoice.

Deposit Requirements

A refundable deposit of 30% is to be received by Zagas Explorer within 7 working days from date of confirmation. The final balance of 70% of the total value of the reservation(s) will be payable at least 30 days prior to the guests arrival.

Refunds

Should any client arrive late or request an early departure, no refund will be granted. Whilst Zagas Explorer will ensure that all anticipated accommodation will be available as planned, there shall be no claim of any nature against Zagas Explorer for a refund, either in part or whole, if any accommodation and or excursion is unavailable and a reasonable alternative was found – or if guests were unable to make use of the service for any reason.

Insurance

All guests should take out comprehensive insurance cover when paying their confirmation deposit, to cover them for cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, personal baggage, emergency evacuation back home and money.

Disclaimer

This agreement is made subject to and shall be governed and construed according to the laws of Tanzania. Neither Zagas Explorer, nor any person acting for, through or on behalf of the company shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever and without restricting the generality of the foregoing shall particularly not be responsible for loss or damage arising from any errors or omission contained in the brochure or other literature, late or non-confirmation or acceptance of bookings, loss or damage caused by delays, sickness, injury or death whether occasioned by negligence or not. In addition, the company shall have the right at any time at its discretion to cancel any tour or the remainder thereof or make any alteration in route, accommodation, price or other detail and in the event of any tour being rendered impossible, illegal, or inadvisable by the weather, avalanches, strike, war, government or interference or any other causes whatsoever. The extra expense incurred as a result thereof shall be the responsibility of the passenger.

The company may, at its discretion and without liability or cost to itself, at any time cancel or terminate the passenger's booking and in particular without limiting the generality of the foregoing, it shall be entitled to do so in the event of the illness or the illegal or incompatible behavior of the passenger, who shall in such circumstances not be entitled to any refund.

Please be aware that these safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African Wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Neither the company, nor its employees, nor its agents can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari.
